当日は「RAYDON(レイドン)」と「DENHAM(デンハム)」という2つのモデルを実際に着比べていただきました。
最終的に選んだのは、ネイビーの「DENHAM(デンハム)」。
This time, we proposed a quilted jacket from the British brand LAVENHAM to visually impaired customers to help them choose fall/winter outerwear, and we accompanied them shopping at the store. This shopping experience is not just about choosing outerwear that suits you.
Through repeated discussions beforehand, we sorted out various conditions one by one, such as the traditional fashion style that is important to the person, compatibility with the clothes they currently own, the ability to use it for a long time, and the ability to comfortably wear it in their daily life while using a white cane. The customer also said that she wanted to choose a piece of clothing that she would continue to wear for a long time, so instead of just looking at trends, we imagined her wardrobe for several years in the future when making her selections.
On the day of the event, we had two models, ``RAYDON'' and ``DENHAM'', to compare.
We explained the silhouette, length, and overall balance, which are difficult to compare visually, from a stylist's perspective, and asked the customers themselves to check the feel of the fabric, how comfortable it is, and how it feels when they actually move their bodies.
Particularly important was the movement of the body when using the white cane. When using a white cane, there are situations where you have to make large movements of your arms and shoulders. Therefore, in addition to the aesthetic appearance, other important factors to consider are sleeve length, arm circumference, and ease of shoulder movement.
In the end, I chose the navy DENHAM.
It's easy to match with the denim, knit, or wine red check set you already own, and even if you incorporate colors and patterns into the inner layer, it will bring the whole thing together naturally.
After purchasing the shoes, the participants actually wore them outdoors and walked while using the white cane to reconfirm their range of motion and comfort. As a result, we found that the white cane follows the movements of the body without interfering with the operation or walking of the white cane, and we were able to confirm not only the design but also its functionality in real life.
In this initiative,
・Respect the person's past fashion and values
・Compatibility with current wardrobe
・It can be used for a long time without being influenced by trends.
・Value information obtained from the sense of touch and comfort
・Do not hinder the range of motion of the arms and shoulders when using a white cane
・Convey the silhouette and size balance as seen by a third party
・Confirm the practicality of your life after purchase.
We have made suggestions from this perspective.
Due to visual limitations, it can be difficult to see how you are dressed and how others see you.
On the other hand, "looking" is not the only information needed to choose clothes.
touching the fabric.
To actually wear the sleeves.
Try moving your body.
Then, think about how the clothes connect to your life and your existing wardrobe.
By adding a third-party perspective as a stylist, we believe that we can help the person choose the outfit that they are satisfied with.
Everyone has the right to enjoy fashion, regardless of whether or not they are visually impaired.
Based on this idea, we will continue to provide styling support that is tailored to each individual's lifestyle and values.

I visited vintage clothing stores in Tokyo to select styling options for charm pins and badges designed for backpacks, specifically for visually impaired individuals. Precisely because of visual limitations, there is the challenge of finding it difficult to personally confirm “how one is perceived.”
This time, we specifically chose items from the “vintage/secondhand” category. Since all were one-of-a-kind used items, I was honestly concerned about whether the styles would harmonize well. However, precisely because of this, we carefully compared and considered each piece, valuing the unique character and aged charm not found in mass-produced items.
As a result, we were able to select items that perfectly matched the individual's existing style and preferences, which was a significant achievement.

With the cooperation of WONDEROUS EYEWEAR RESORT, an eyewear specialty store in Nakameguro, we selected eyeglass styles for visually impaired individuals. Limited vision can make it difficult for individuals to assess how they are perceived.
This initiative focused on:
- Balance with bone structure and facial features
- Proposing frame and lens color combinations that complement skin tone and personality
- Designing an impression for different occasions, such as business, everyday, or formal wear
- Checking frame shape through touch
- Proposing ideas that foster new possibilities and discoveries while respecting the customer's existing fashion style and preferences
We made proposals based on the following perspectives. By combining the fitting techniques, product knowledge, and styling perspective of a specialist store, we value the time spent selecting not only "glasses that help you see" but also "glasses that express your individuality."
Everyone, regardless of visual impairment, has the right to enjoy fashion.
With that belief in mind, we will continue to work on this initiative.
